Vipers Score Late to Nip Miners, 2-1
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Vancouver Vipers and the Marquette Miners, Rudy Savage, who is tied for 8th in the PAA with a 3.15 ERA, was the difference-maker. The Vancouver left-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. At 44-30, the Vipers have a slim two-game lead in the Premier AA.
Had Rafael Zavala not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Zavala hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Vipers.
"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Zavala.
