Fighting Imps Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Ogres, 4-3
|
Ithaca registered a win at Imps Park by beating the Olympia Ogres, 4-3. Pitcher Luke Little was one reason why the Fighting Imps triumphed. Allen Wagner recorded the save, his 2nd. Ithaca, now 35-40, holds down 7th place in the Premier AA.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Nacho Rodríguez came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Olympia pitcher Wang-fen Jia, he hit a 1-2 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Ithaca on top, 4-3.
"We missed opportunities once again," said losing manager Andrés Gonzáles.
