Screaming Eagles Peel Off 3-1 Win
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles and the Squirrel Hill Pierogis, 26-year old right-handed pitcher Eduardo Ojeda proved to be the difference. The Mercer Island right-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-1 Screaming Eagles win. In 6 innings, Ojeda surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. The Screaming Eagles now own a record of 35-40.
The Screaming Eagles got an important contribution from shortstop Julius Hicks, who in the bottom of the fifth hit a 1-2 sinker to right for a run-scoring double. It was his 11th double of the season and put the Screaming Eagles ahead, 3-1.
"It was a good effort all around," said Hicks.
