Mercer Island Screaming Eagles starter Randall Wright hurled his team past the Nuevo Mexico Mariachis, 3-2. Mercer Island reliever Francisco Encarnación picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Dan Mullally absorbed the loss. This win makes it 8 in a row for Mercer Island.

Batting in the bottom of the 11th, 23-year old third baseman Ed Cook had a real shot to win the game. Nuevo Mexico pitcher Gerald Huff was determined not to let it happen. But with one out, Cook hit a run-scoring single. The Screaming Eagles had a walk-off triumph.

"This place sure got loud," said Ricardo Vargas, the Mercer Island manager.
