Airmen Upend Generals, 4-0
|
Jesse Martin imposed his will on the Generals from the get-go. Relying mainly on his fastball, the right-hander spearheaded the 4-0 Alameda triumph. The winner was Martin. He threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Gerald Porter. Marv Thomas picked up the save for Alameda, his 1st of the year.
José Javellana broke a 0-0 tie in the bottom of the second with a run-scoring ground out. It put the Airmen in front, 1-0. For the game, Javellana was 1-4 with a double.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Alameda manager Gonzalo Féliz.
The loss puts Washington at 5-13.
