Airmen Win Another One, 3-1
|
In a tight affair between the Alameda Airmen and the Rocky Mountain Vibes, pitcher Ed Alvarado was in the zone. The Alameda right-hander helped his team win the game, 3-1. In 6 innings, Alvarado surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 10 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Todd Lee earned the save for Alameda, his 8th of the year.
Alameda designated hitter Alain Bernard said the only thing on his mind when he came to bat with the bases empty in the bottom of the sixth was making good contact. He did that much, and more! Bernard hit a solo home run to stake Alameda to a 2-1 lead. His 3rd home run of the season came off Rocky Mountain pitcher Joe Gordon.
"I like how we're playing right now," said Bernard.
The win gives Alameda a record of 10-8.
