Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Bethesda Atoms and Mercer Island Screaming Eagles.
Getting an impressive start from Anthony Samuels, Bethesda beat Mercer Island by the score of 3-1. Samuels picked up the win for Bethesda, going 8 innings. He gave up no runs on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 8-4. Fred Rucker picked up the save for Bethesda, his 6th of the year.
One pivotal at-bat came in the top of the fourth with one out. With runners on 1st and 2nd and the Screaming Eagles trailing 3-0, Anthony Samuels needed to make a quality pitch. He threw a full count fastball to retire Jiao-long Tow, who struck out.
