José Tapia, who is tied for 3rd in the PAA in wins with 8, had a strong outing for the Nuevo Mexico Mariachis against the Ithaca Fighting Imps at Imps Park. The left-hander was a big part of his team's 5-3 win. The save went to Greg Kirkpatrick, his 8th this season. With the win, Nuevo Mexico raised its record to 42-37.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Santiago Ybarra? The 26-year old third baseman Ybarra stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put Nuevo Mexico up, 5-3. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.

"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Tapia said.
