Stingers Solve Voodoo, 4-2
|
The Toledo Stingers converted a terrific effort from starter Jacobim Mugatu into a win over the New Orleans Voodoo at Pacesetter Park. The Stingers won the game by a final score of 4-2. Gilbert Owen, now 8-1, was credited with the win in 1.1 innings of relief. He allowed 1 run on 4 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 0. Sam Myers notched his 20th save in 24 chances.
Toledo went up, 3-2, on Bob Matthews's 6th home run of the season. The solo home run, which Matthews hit in the bottom of the seventh, left New Orleans pitcher Soong-yong Yi shaking his head.
New Orleans manager Chase Sims said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
The win lifted the Toledo record to 59-41.
