Stanley Lays Hammer Down in 3-1 Win
|
Robbie Stanley, who is tied for 5th in the PAA in quality starts with 9, never let the Mariachis get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Fighting Imps to a win, 3-1. Matt Dougherty closed it out for Ithaca, earning his 1st save. Ithaca is now 37-44, while Nuevo Mexico is 41-40.
Stanley was effective for Ithaca, seldom allowing the Mariachis to square up a pitch. The right-hander tossed 111 pitches over 8.2 innings. He limited Nuevo Mexico to just 1 run on 5 hits.
"Robbie was throwing strikes, locating well," said Ithaca manager Jeffrey Lewis.
