Fans witnessed a whale of a game between the Olympia Ogres and Northville Eclipse.
The Olympia Ogres besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Northville center fielder Joe McQueen by beating the Eclipse, 5-4, at The Ogre Den. McQueen went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3. Ramiro Ramírez recorded the save for Olympia, his 20th of the season.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the eighth, with the game tied, Júlio Salinas was at the plate when Olympia scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Ogres to go in front, 5-4.
"Nice win for us," said Salinas. "Now we'll go after the next one."
The win gives Olympia a season record of 44-38.
