Mariachis Drop Screaming Eagles, 5-1

The Nuevo Mexico Mariachis topped the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles, 5-1, in USPL Double A action at Mariachi Band Shell. The game was highlighted by the performance of Nuevo Mexico pitcher Gilberto Espinoza. Nuevo Mexico is in 4th place in the Premier AA with a record of 46-38.
The Mariachis got an important contribution from left fielder Markus Lund, who in the bottom of the fifth knocked a first pitch cutter to left for a 3-run home run. It was his 9th home run of the season and put the Mariachis ahead, 4-0.
"Gilberto was the difference maker. He was emotionally under control, had good stuff and makeup," said Nuevo Mexico manager Andrés Ventura.
