Guinea Pigs Turn Back Atoms, 4-2
|
Getting a good performance from third baseman Wyatt Hathaway, the Gwinnett Guinea Pigs defeated the Bethesda Atoms, 4-2. Hathaway went 2 for 4 with a home run, while scoring 2 and driving in 3 for the Guinea Pigs. Augusto Sousa got credit for the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. Matt Griffin notched his 22nd save in 25 chances.
Hathaway had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 2-2 splitter from Luis Yánez, he banged a 2-run home run to left-center, giving the Guinea Pigs a 4-2 lead. It was the 20th home run of the year for Hathaway.
