The St. Petersburg Thunder beat the Providence Pilgrims by a score of 8-3. St. Petersburg third baseman Juan Sánchez deserved the lion's share of the credit. Sánchez went 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Thunder. The winning pitcher was 26-year old left-handed pitcher Carlos Gómez.
