Kobayashi Delivers Walk-Off Win for Screaming Eagles
Vancouver got a valiant performance from pitcher Chris Bligh, but it wasn't enough to beat the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles. Mercer Island won the game, 5-4. Bligh threw 7.2 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. The 8th-place Screaming Eagles go to 39-47.

In the bottom of the ninth, with one out and the game tied, 4-4, 25-year old third baseman Nobuo Kobayashi won it for Mercer Island. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, Kobayashi hit a 0-1 changeup from Bobby Spears for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 5-4 win.

"What a rush!" said a smiling Kobayashi.
