Shredders Come Up Short at Boston, 3-2
|
The Boston Patriots defeated the Hollywood Shredders, 3-2, at Dunkin Donuts Park. Boston was led by former first round draft pick Dave Powell, who went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The winner in relief was Mario Gonzáles. He is now 2-0. The right-hander allowed no runs on 7 hits in 5.1 innings. Boston goes to 63-38. The win puts them 5 games up in their division.
With the game tied, 2-2, in the bottom of the sixth, Powell had a key at-bat for Boston. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Powell hit a run-scoring single off José Salinas, making the score 3-2, Patriots.
