The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles turned back the St. Petersburg Thunder, 7-6, at Mercer Island Grounds. Ángel Soto, in particular, had a fine performance. He was 2 for 3 with a double and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI. Han-soo Yang picked up the win, lifting his record to 8-2 on the season. He struck out 8 and walked 1 in 6 innings, while yielding 5 runs. Lawrence Wood earned the save for Mercer Island, his 2nd of the year.

In the bottom of the sixth, the Screaming Eagles grabbed the lead when Soto hit his 4th double of the season. The 2-run double off Fernando Bustamante made it 7-5, Mercer Island.

"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Mercer Island manager Jonah Moody.

Mercer Island is now 53-34, St. Petersburg 35-52.
