Javelina Suffer One-Run Loss at Nuevo Mexico
|
Nuevo Mexico pitcher Curtis López did his part in helping his team defeat the Arizona Javelina, 3-2. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. López picked up the win for Nuevo Mexico, going 8 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 6-8. Their 44-44 record puts the Mariachis 5th in the Premier AA.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Mariachis had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the third, when right fielder Donnie MacKim hit a run-scoring single. The single came off León Berroa and made the score 3-0, Mariachis. MacKim was 2-4 with a triple.
Nuevo Mexico manager Andrés Ventura praised his team's "businesslike approach."
