Fighting Imps Drop Guinea Pigs, 6-5
|
The Ithaca Fighting Imps picked up a win at Imps Park, knocking off the Gwinnett Guinea Pigs, 6-5. On the mound for Ithaca was right-hander Luke Little. He played a key role in the triumph. The winning pitcher was Little, now 10-2. He tossed 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 2. Gwinnett has now lost 4 in a row.
Chris Gillespie was 2-3 with 2 singles for Ithaca. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the sixth inning, Gillespie, who is tied for 7th in the PAA in bases on balls with 40, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Gwinnett hurler George Hill, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Fighting Imps a 3-2 lead.
"We'll grab a cold beverage tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Gillespie said.
