Fighting Imps Earn Win with Late Rally
|
The Ithaca Fighting Imps took St. Petersburg pitcher Carlos Gómez's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Imps Park. The final score had Ithaca getting past the Thunder, 4-3. Gómez went 6 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 6. Frederick Jennings, now 1-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 3.1 innings. The loss makes St. Petersburg 39-50.
Tony Jump drove in one run for Ithaca. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the eighth inning, Jump, who is tied for 3rd in the PAA in home runs with 17, had a clutch at-bat. Facing St. Petersburg hurler José Bustamante, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Fighting Imps a 4-3 lead.
"Feels good to get the job done," Jump said after the game.
