Screaming Eagles Beat Loons, 6-2
|
Minnesota got a decent performance from pitcher Min-chor Ham, but it wasn't enough to beat the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles. Mercer Island won the Loony Bin contest, 6-2. Ham threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Fernando López picked up the win, improving his season record to 8-4. He struck out 5 in 6 innings. The first-place Screaming Eagles, at 65-25, now lead their division by 8 games.
The Screaming Eagles benefited from a costly error in the top of the eighth. With Francis Bowdler at bat and Mercer Island leading 3-2, the Minnesota miscue allowed Mercer Island to plate 1 and take the lead, 4-2.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Bowdler.
