The Laredo Hawks stymied the Yucca Valley Yellows, 5-1, at Ballpark of Yucca Valley. Grease Zerk had a good day at the plate. He was 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Laredo. The win was credited to Carl Zolman in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Bill Grant took the loss. Ethan Henry notched his 2nd save of the season.

In the top of the third, Zerk had a 2-run home run for Laredo. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Hawks on top, 2-0.

"It's always nice to be on the winning side," Zerk told the Laredo Daily News. "But we take nothing for granted."

The first-place Hawks have a one-game lead in their division.
