Vancouver and Nuevo Mexico duked it out and the Vipers came out victorious.

Vancouver pitcher Jean-Jacques Grimaud had a large part in his team beating the Nuevo Mexico Mariachis, 5-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Bobby Spears locked down his 29th save.

Vancouver used the timely hitting of Jeremy Hoover to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Vipers on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Hoover told the Vancouver Daily News.

The third-place Vipers sport a record of 50-41.
