Martínez Launches 2 Dingers, But Marquette Wins
|
The Olympia Ogres got a superb performance from second baseman Jorge Martínez, but the Marquette Miners still won the game, 8-5. Martínez slugged 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. Marquette starter Tazz Jones was credited with the win after throwing 92 pitches over 5.1 innings. His record now stands at 4-1. Marquette's record now stands at 53-38, placing them third in the Premier AA.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Clancy Hendricks? The Marquette first baseman had a run-scoring walk in the top of the sixth inning to put the Miners on top, 7-5. For the game, Hendricks had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Hendricks said after the game.
