Late Rally Earns Gulf Coast 6-4 Win
|
The Crescent City Krewe could not turn a fine performance from pitcher George Johnston into a win. Instead, the Gulf Coast Turbeaus prevailed, 6-4. Johnston threw 6.2 innings allowing 2 runs. Sebastian Pease claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 2.1 innings. His record stands at 1-1. The victory puts Gulf Coast at 33-58.
Gulf Coast used the timely hitting of Joaquim Pona to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Turbeaus on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Pona.
