In a low-scoring contest, Vancouver pitcher Chris Bligh was marvelous, enabling his team to nab a 3-1 win. The winning pitcher was Bligh, now 2-1. He tossed 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 7. Hirokazu Fukuda, credited with the save, is now 2 for 2 in save opportunities.
Wiley Smith, who is tied for 10th in the PAA in triples with 2, had a direct impact on the outcome. Smith contributed a run-scoring triple in the top of the sixth inning to put Vancouver up, 3-1.
"I still think this team can play even better," Smith told the Vancouver Daily News.
Vancouver is now 51-41.
