Rainbow Mermaids Dumped, 7-1, by Hollywood
|
The Hollywood Shredders rode a solid performance from 31-year-old starting pitcher Alex Thompson to a win, beating the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids, 7-1, at The Hollywood Bowl. Thompson yielded no runs over 5.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 10. His record improves to 8-6. Hollywood is now 56-46.
Soo-keun Yi had a big 3-run home run for the Shredders in the bottom of the third inning. With Hollywood leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a fastball from 13-year veteran Chris Jackson and punished it. The result was his 32nd home run of the season, which put the Shredders on top, 5-0.
"Alex was hitting his spots and everything had life," said Hollywood manager Bill Cheese.
