The Vancouver Vipers had to overcome a big game from Nuevo Mexico third baseman Bruce Wood to leave Mariachi Band Shell with a victory. And they did, winning, 7-6. Wood went 4 for 5 with 2 home runs and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Bobby Spears earned the save for Vancouver, his 30th of the year. Vancouver is in third place in the Premier AA with a record of 52-41.

The result might have been different, had it not been for 20-year old center fielder Sonny O'Mulrooney. O'Mulrooney had a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Vipers ahead, 7-6. For the game, O'Mulrooney had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

O'Mulrooney told the Vancouver Daily News: "Don't care what other people think. Sonny knows who Sonny is."
