Godfathers Claim Late Win
|
The Rocky Mountain Vibes could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Jake Best into a win. Instead, the Pontiac Godfathers prevailed, 5-3. Best threw 7.2 innings allowing 5 runs. The win went to Félix Santana in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Jake Best took the loss. The Godfathers raised their record to 13-8.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the eighth, with the game tied, Raúl Marino was at the plate when Pontiac scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Godfathers to go in front, 4-3.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," Marino told the Pontiac Chronicle.
