7-6 Ogres Win over Fighting Imps Evens Season Record
|
Good production from center fielder Tom Wood helped the Olympia Ogres topple the Ithaca Fighting Imps, 7-6. Wood went 2-5 with a triple and a double. He drove in 4 runs for the Ogres. Kurt Cannon, now 1-4, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. With the win over Ithaca, the Ogres improved to 47-47.
Elvin Baldwin's at-bat in the bottom of the sixth was significant, coming with runners on 1st and 2nd and the game tied, 6-6. The Olympia designated hitter hit a run-scoring single off Matt Dougherty to put the Ogres up.
"I keep on showing up every day and trying to put up good at-bats and find good pitches to hit," said Wood.
