The Matlacha Manatees rode a solid performance from 22-year-old starting pitcher António Silva to a win, beating the Alameda Airmen, 6-2, at Alameda Field. The second-place Airmen now sit at 13-9.
Gerald Stufi's at-bat in the top of the sixth was significant for the Manatees. Coming to the plate with runners on 1st and 3rd and Matlacha trailing 2-1, the Manatees shortstop hit a sacrifice fly.
"António is a gamer," said Matlacha manager Howard Lee.
