Manatees Topple Airmen, 7-1

The Matlacha Manatees went home winners at Alameda Field, thanks in large part to starter Pi-ao Rui. Rui stifled the Alameda Airmen, enabling Matlacha to grab the 7-1 win. Rui, now 2-1, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Iván Sáenz earned the save for Matlacha, his 1st.
Matlacha used a well-timed hit by José Flores to capture the win. The center fielder socked a run-scoring double in the top of the second inning to put the Manatees ahead, 3-1. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.
"I think it just wasn't our night," said Alameda skipper Artie Smith.
Matlacha, at 10-13, sits in 9th place in the Menard's A.
