Rainbow Mermaids Top Thunder, 1-0, Behind Taaij
|
In a tension-filled contest between the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids and the Toronto Thunder, pitcher Noud Taaij was superb. The Northern Virginia right-hander, who finished 3rd in the PL in innings pitched with 167.2 in 2051, spearheaded his team's 1-0 win. Juan Carlos Mejía was called on to finish, recording his 2nd save. The win gives Northern Virginia a record of 7-4.
Taaij gave Northern Virginia a solid start. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits over 8 innings.
"Obviously, you want to go out there and be good every time out," said Taaij. "I take the ball every day with the same mindset."
