Chiefs Get Clutch Win, 3-2
|
Caldwell beat Belleville at Pipers Ballpark, eking out a 3-2 win. The win was due in large part to right fielder Frank Thompson. He was 4 for 4 with 4 singles. He scored 2 times. The win puts Caldwell at 10-15.
Caldwell took a 3-2 lead on Cecil Burke's 3rd double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Burke hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Belleville pitcher Jimmy Jeffries visibly frustrated.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Burke.
