Marquette used a superb performance from starting pitcher Joseph Campbell to down the Nuevo Mexico Mariachis, 8-1. With the win, Marquette upped its record to 60-39.

Marquette center fielder Javier Peña contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the first. With two down, he hit a sinker to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 19th hit of the season and put the Miners ahead, 2-0.

"I think we all put in a good day's work," said Peña.
