Bethesda Makes It 7 Straight with 4-1 Win
|
The Bethesda Atoms got a marvelous performance from pitcher Bill Bennett. The right-hander kept the Toledo offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 4-1 Bethesda victory at Toledo Backyard Park. The win went to Alex Beck in relief, making him now 1-0. Peter Brenchley took the loss for Toledo. Steven Brown recorded the save, his 1st.
Bethesda used a clutch hit from Luigi Mangione to get the win. The second baseman drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Atoms ahead, 4-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a doozy.
"I was just trying to execute one pitch at a time," said Bennett.
The Atoms, now 50-49, have won 7 in a row.
