Patriots Get Past Long Island, 4-3
|
Boston Patriots starter Mario Gonzáles found his groove in his team's 4-3 win over the Long Island Lighthouse. Boston reliever Orlando Díaz picked up the win to move to 1-1. Thomas Zachary suffered the loss. Armando Trujillo, credited with the save, is now 10 for 11 in save opportunities.
Boston needed the clutch hitting of Jean Kools to seal the deal. The first baseman swatted a solo home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Patriots on top, 4-3. For the game, Kools had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Long Island skipper Michael Esposito.
Long Island, at 35-68, has lost 12 straight.
