Turbeaus 6-4 Winners Versus Nuevo Mexico
|
Gulf Coast Turbeaus starter Jim Wilson pitched a strong game against the Nuevo Mexico Mariachis at Mobile Home Park, leading the Turbeaus to victory, 6-4. Wilson yielded 4 runs over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 2, and struck out 10. His record improves to 4-5. Raúl Sánchez nailed down his 11th save.
Tied up with the Mariachis in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Turbeaus got a boost from center fielder Héctor Castro. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Castro saw a first pitch fastball from Josh Leach and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Gulf Coast on top, 5-4.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Nuevo Mexico manager Allen Carlson. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
The victory puts Gulf Coast at 37-64.
