Guinea Pigs Get Past Marquette, 3-2
The Gwinnett Guinea Pigs locked up a win at Marquette Stadium, knocking off the Marquette Miners, 3-2. On the mound for Gwinnett was right-hander Brooks Brown. He played a major role in the triumph. Brown, now 6-5, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. Earning his 29th save of the year was Matt Griffin.

Gwinnett used the timely hitting of Ted Cunningham to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Guinea Pigs on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"Brooks gets tougher when he has to, makes a big pitch when he has to," said Gwinnett skipper Cary Collins.

The Guinea Pigs win now puts them at 46-56.
