Atoms Suffer 6-4 Setback
|
A 3-RBI performance from first baseman Kevin O'Rourke, who is tied for 4th in the PAA in runs scored with 62, led the Olympia Ogres to a win over the Bethesda Atoms, 6-4. Miguel Ortíz was credited with the save for Olympia, his 8th of the season. The Atoms, at 43-59, have lost 5 in a row.
The game was at a stalemate until pinch hitter Alfred Griffin came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Bethesda pitcher Tommy Smith, he hit a 1-1 cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Olympia on top, 5-4.
"I'm just looking to see the ball, hit the ball," said O'Rourke.
