Hawks Deal Bulls 9-5 Defeat
|
The Laredo Hawks defeated the Belleville Bulls, 9-5, at Belleville Field. Corey Browning was a standout performer for Laredo. His 3 hits included 2 singles and 1 double -- this in addition to the 1 run he scored and 2 he knocked in. Ricky Dotson, the winner, is now 1-2. He struck out 4 and walked 1 over 6 innings, while allowing 3 runs on 7 hits. Cristovão Mineiro earned the save for Laredo, his 6th of the year.
Ben Nelson, who is tied for 10th in the 3A in doubles with 7, helped out the Laredo cause in the top of the seventh inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the shortstop went 3 for 5 with 3 singles and a walk.
"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Nelson.
With the win, the Hawks have a record of 20-11.
