The Idaho Falls Chukars picked up a win at Idaho Falls Park, taking down the Rocky Mountain Vibes, 2-1. Starting pitcher Luis Tirado was a big reason why. In 7.2 innings, Tirado surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 2. He allowed no runs. Miguel Ortíz locked down his 2nd save.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Chukars had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the sixth, when second baseman Iwane Tanaka hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Jake Best and made the score 1-0, Chukars. Tanaka was 1 for 3 with a walk.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Tanaka.
The Chukars, at 14-17, sit in 8th place in the Menard's A.
