Rainbow Mermaids Rally to Nose Past Seattle
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids had to overcome a big game from Seattle catcher Mel Kiper III to leave Atlantica with a victory. And they did, winning, 5-4. Kiper III slugged 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Quinton Barnard picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 4-2. Bill Hayes suffered the loss. The win makes Northern Virginia 51-53.

Northern Virginia got a knockout punch from Harvey Thomas. The first baseman hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.

"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Thomas said after the game.
