Jorge Valdés was instrumental in his team's 8-5 triumph over the Toledo Stingers. The first baseman went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the New Orleans Voodoo. With the victory, the Voodoo upped their record to 60-44.

New Orleans catcher Clint Sheffield contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the fifth. With two down, he hit a sinker to left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 89th hit of the season and put the Voodoo ahead, 4-2.

"Very pleased with the effort on our side," said Sheffield.
