Godfathers Get Defeated by Yellows, 7-4
|
With left fielder Tom Murray leading the charge, the Yucca Valley Yellows defeated the Pontiac Godfathers, 7-4, at Ballpark of Yucca Valley. Murray was 2 for 3 with a double and a walk, while scoring 3 runs. Ken Leuthold, the winner, improved to 3-1. He held the Godfathers to 2 runs on 3 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 2. Dave Froley recorded the save for Yucca Valley, his 6th of the season.
With Yucca Valley leading 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth, Stephen Winters hit a 2-run single off Pontiac pitcher Chris Morris. It put the Yellows ahead 5-2.
"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said Yucca Valley manager Ricardo Vásquez.
With the win, Yucca Valley goes to 15-17, while the Godfathers fall to 17-15.
