In a low-scoring contest, Alameda pitcher Ron Jackson was marvelous, enabling his team to nab a 3-1 win in 10 innings. The winner was Alameda reliever Ed Jordan, now 2-1. The loser was George Harris. Javier Acosta notched his 2nd save of the season.
The most critical at-bat came in the top of the tenth inning. With two out, Jurrie Kila hit a 1-1 fastball from George Harris for a run-scoring single. It put Alameda in front, 2-1.
"Watch and learn," said Kila. "This is what good pitching looks like."
The Airmen are now 16-17.
