Late Rally Earns Monroeville 7-4 Win
|
The Monroeville Yinzers had to overcome a big game from Niagara Falls second baseman Frankie Mazeltov to leave Dragoons War Memorial Stadium with a victory. And they did, winning, 7-4. Mazeltov went 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Gary Fleming, credited with the win in relief, is now 2-0. He allowed 3 runs on 5 hits in 1.2 innings. Brad Pratly closed the door for Monroeville, picking up his 2nd save of the year.
The game was at a stalemate until pinch hitter Bob Cole came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Niagara Falls pitcher Ronald Kirkland, he hit a 2-0 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Monroeville on top, 4-3.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Cole.
The 9th-place Yinzers have won 4 in a row.
