Bulls Knock Off Hawks, 5-3

The Belleville Bulls trumped the Laredo Hawks, 5-3, at Hawks Field. Belleville right fielder Ron Reed was terrific. He went 2-3 with a double and 2 walks. Belleville reliever Gunner Laird got the win, raising his record to 2-0. Lewis Jones was tagged with the loss. The Bulls improved to 13-23.
With one out in the top of the second, Bernard Thomas put Belleville in front, 3-2, with a run-scoring single. The Bulls went on to win the ballgame.
Belleville manager Rafael Avelar praised his team's "businesslike approach."
