A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Idaho Falls Chukars and Matlacha Manatees.
The Idaho Falls Chukars downed the Matlacha Manatees, 5-1, at Fuller Park. Stellar pitching by Anastasio Orozco had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who is tied for 9th in the 3A in quality starts with 5, handcuffed his opponent all game. Orozco, now 4-1, was the winner. In 8.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 4, and allowing 1 run.
Todd Bowers chipped in for Idaho Falls, stroking a crucial solo home run in the top of the seventh inning. For the game, the first baseman was 2-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice.
"We're all smiles after that win," Bowers told the Idaho Falls Daily.
The defeat makes Matlacha 21-15.
