The Delmarva Gallos beat the Niagara Falls Expos, 5-4, in part because of second baseman Hong Saksansin. He went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. Charles Covenay, credited with the win in relief, is now 2-1. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 1 innings. Delmarva is 28-11 and Niagara Falls, with the loss, 24-15.
Batting in the bottom of the ninth, 23-year old center fielder Kidlat Arbiz had a real shot to win the game. Niagara Falls pitcher José Machado was determined not to let it happen. But with one out, Arbiz hit a run-scoring single. The Gallos had a walk-off triumph.
"This place was rocking at the end," Arbiz said.
