Riding the 2-hit performance of the 25-year old center fielder Saikaku Kato, the New Orleans Voodoo stopped the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids, 10-2. Larry Bryant got credit for the win, improving to 1-2. He allowed 2 runs on 4 hits in 6.1 innings. The Voodoo, at 58-47, sit in 4th place in the Premier League.

Fernando Mezzatesta, who is on pace to hit 21 home runs this season, chipped in a 3-run home run for New Orleans in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the third baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 runs batted in.

"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Kato.
