Gallos Get One-Run Win at Belleville
|
The inspired effort of Belleville center fielder Jim Henry was not enough to prevent a loss, 6-5, to the Delmarva Gallos. Henry was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Troy Henderson, the winner, improved to 4-0. He held the Bulls to 3 runs on 5 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 0 and walking 2. With the win, Delmarva has a record of 29-12. Belleville falls to 17-24.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Drew Melton? The 22-year old right fielder Melton stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put Delmarva up, 6-3. For the game, he was 3 for 3, including 1 double and 2 singles.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Melton said.
