Matlacha Stopped, 5-0, by Washington
|
Kent Nelson never let the Manatees get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his cutter, to pitch the Generals to a win, 5-0. Nelson, the winner, moves to 2-0. He threw 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 3 walks. With the win, Washington goes to 21-21, while the Manatees fall to 9-33.
Denzel Turner had a big hit for Washington in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Washington leading 1-0, Turner hit a 2-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Generals up, 3-0.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Washington skipper Kyu-cheol Kye.
